Job summary

Global Ardour Recycling is recruiting a Non-Ferrous Scale Operator at our Basildon site. You will identify, sort and weigh non-ferrous metals, operate plant equipment and forklift trucks where trained, and maintain safe, tidy yard operations.

We offer a full-time, permanent role with a starting salary around £30,000 per year, plus training, a pension, and career progression within a supportive team. The role requires flexibility with hours and weather, and a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

We are now looking to recruit a Non-Ferrous Scale Operator to join our team at our Basildon site.

The Role

As a Non-Ferrous Scale Operator, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the yard, ensuring non-ferrous materials are correctly identified, sorted, weighed and processed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, sort and process non-ferrous metals in accordance with company procedures.
• Assist customers, suppliers and members of the public with weighing materials and deliveries.
• Work closely with the yard team, communicating effectively and following instructions.
• Operate plant equipment and forklift trucks where trained and authorised.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, ensuring your work area is clean and tidy.
• Follow all health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.
• Assist with general yard duties as required.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Work with the yard team and management to maintain high operational standards.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience within scrap metal recycling.
• Has knowledge of non-ferrous metals.
• Is comfortable working across different areas of a scrap yard.
• Has forklift truck experience or a valid licence, although this is desirable rather than essential.
• Is reliable, hardworking and able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
• Is health and safety conscious.
