Job summary

AMS is seeking a Skilled Machinist for a 12-month contract based in Washington. The role involves manufacturing and assembly of components to quality standards and contributing to process improvements.

A hands-on position within a global workforce solutions setup. Applicants must have a recognised time-served apprenticeship with National Certificate/BTEC or equivalent, and experience in machining, balancing, deburring, broaching, AFM, or grinding.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed a recognised time-served apprenticeship including a National Certificate/BTEC or equivalent.
  • Experience in machining processes such as balancing, deburring, broaching, AFM and grinding.
  • Willingness to learn across a range of product types, processes, machines, and technologies.
  • Strong process management skills and ability to comply with operating procedures and apply lessons learned.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and assemble components and sub-assemblies to team and company standards.
  • Participate in process improvement activities and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Follow production plans to meet customer requirements.
  • Contribute to cell performance targets and asset maintenance to keep equipment safe.
  • Work with teammates to share knowledge and train others.

On behalf of our globally respected client who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planet's vital power needs w e are looking for a number of Skilled Machinists for a 12 month contract based in Washington.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform Manufacturing/Operational tasks consistent with the requirements of the team, statutory and company standards, including the manufacture and assembly of components and sub-assemblies
  • Participate in process improvement activities and compliance methodologies to satisfy customer needs and cost reduction targets. This may include elements of factory set up and workstation design.
  • Follow production plans to meet customer requirements
  • Participate in cost reduction/operational improvements to satisfy customer needs
  • Contribute to achievement of cell performance targets
  • Recognise and perform asset maintenance activities to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high-performance standard
  • Work with other team members to deliver team objectives and requirements, including knowledge sharing and training others
Qualifications and Experience:
  • It is a requirement of the role that you will have completed a recognised time-served apprenticeship including National Certificate/ BTEC or equivalent.
  • Experience in one or more of the following processes:
    • Machining
    • Balance
    • De-burr
    • Broach
    • Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM)
    • Grind
  • A willingness to learn and adapt across a range of product types, processes, machines, and technologies.
  • Strong process management skills and ability to comply with operating procedures and apply lessons learned to improvement activities.
  • Experience of working in a team environment that requires effective relationship building and training of work colleagues.
Working Pattern:
  • 40 hours per week over a rotating 3 shift pattern.
