Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a conscientious and enthusiastic Skilled Labourer to join our dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to individuals looking to advance their careers and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.

In this role, you will carry out a variety of general labouring and remedial damp/mould works across occupied homes and void properties. Tasks may include surface preparation, application of anti-mould treatments, site clearance, materials handling, and support to other trade operatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Diagnose and treat damp and mould in accordance with approved techniques.
• Ensure all work meets high quality and safety standards.
• Support multi-trade teams with general labouring duties as required.
• Work safely at height using appropriate equipment.
• Maintain site cleanliness and proper waste disposal.
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with tenants and stakeholders.
• Minimise non-productive time and report challenges to the Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of work, including photographic evidence.
• Follow Health & Safety rules using RAMS and PPE.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
• Participate in out-of-hours rota as required.
• Assist other contracts within Mountjoy Ltd as directed.
• Ensure the company vehicle is kept clean and in good condition.

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Experience in damp and mould remediation in domestic settings.
• Confidence working at height with safety equipment.
• Strong communication skills, especially with tenants.
• Ability to diagnose repair needs accurately and adopt a right-first-time approach.
• Self-management, prioritisation, and productivity maintenance.
• Positive attitude towards teamwork, problem-solving, and Health & Safety.
• Proficiency with PDA/phone for job management.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in skilled labouring or maintenance, preferably in residential repairs or housing associations.
• Understanding of mould prevention and treatment.
• Knowledge of COSHH and chemical handling safety.
• Awareness of safeguarding and tenant interaction protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Full current driving licence.
• A DBS check is required before starting.
