Job summary

Northumberland County Council is looking for a highways maintenance operative to join or lead a team in England, carrying out repairs and maintenance on the highway network. You will handle modular paving, concrete work, drainage systems, ironwork, kerbs and channels, and related tasks to a high standard.

The role requires a valid driving licence, experience in highways and construction, and a Level 2 or equivalent qualification.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways and construction is required.
• Ability to read plans and calculations; keep accurate records.
• Valid driving licence is essential.
• Able to plan, organise and prioritise resources and staff, including own time.

Responsibilities

• Carry out highways repairs and maintenance tasks as part of a team.
• Perform modular/block paving, kerbs, drainage, and concrete works.
• Fit formwork, shoring equipment, ironwork, and bollards as required.
• Keep accurate work records and interpret plans and schedules.

Job description

You will lead or be part of a team and will carry out highways repairs/maintenance tasks including;

• Modular and block paving


• Laying insitu concrete and associated steel reinforcement


• Associated iron work (i.e., manholes, gully's, valve cases),


• Laying kerb and channels


• Installing and repairing of all types of drainage pipes and systems and operate mechanical jetting plant


• Fitting formwork and shoring-up equipment


• Fitting metal concrete bollards and excavation work.
  Valid Driving Licence


• Previous experience in Highways and Construction


• Level 2 or Equivalent Qualification


• The ability to understand complex detailed spoken and written instructions, as well as plans drawings schedules and calculate work requirements and keep accurate work records.


• Able to plan, organise and prioritise resources and staff, including own time.
