Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a team member to lead or contribute to highways repairs and maintenance. Tasks include paving, concrete work, drainage, formwork, bollards, and kerb laying, with emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires a valid driving licence, prior highways/construction experience, and a Level 2 or equivalent qualification. It also stresses planning resources and keeping accurate work records, with opportunities across diverse projects.

• Fitting formwork and shoring-up equipment.
• Fitting metal concrete bollards and excavation work.
• Associated iron work (manholes, gullies, valve cases).
• Laying kerb and channels.

Job description

ROLE OF THE JOB

You will lead or be part of a team and will carry out highways repairs/maintenance tasks including;

• Modular and block paving
• Laying insitu concrete and associated steel reinforcement
• Associated iron work (i.e., manholes, gully's, valve cases),
• Laying kerb and channels
• Installing and repairing of all types of drainage pipes and systems and operate mechanical jetting plant
• Fitting formwork and shoring-up equipment
• Fitting metal concrete bollards and excavation work.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

• Valid Driving Licence
• Previous experience in Highways and Construction
• Level 2 or Equivalent Qualification
• The ability to understand complex detailed spoken and written instructions, as well as plans drawings schedules and calculate work requirements and keep accurate work records.
• Able to plan, organise and prioritise resources and staff, including own time.
