Job summary

Bradford Corporation is seeking a Skilled Gardener to join our Parks, Environment team in the United Kingdom. The role involves carrying out general grounds maintenance tasks across sites within the Local Authority district, including turf care, grass cutting, shrub and flower bed upkeep, and seasonal horticultural duties.

You will work as part of a team or alone, ensuring safety standards are followed and equipment is maintained and secure. A commitment to high-quality workmanship is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds maintenance and horticultural tasks.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general grounds maintenance such as turf care, grass cutting, shrubs and flower beds.
• Ensure equipment is safe to use and complies with safety requirements.
• Operate and perform minor maintenance on mowing equipment and hand tools.
• Ensure the security of equipment and plant on site.
• Deliver high-quality workmanship to standards.
• Uphold personal and public safety on site.

Job description

We are looking for a Skilled Gardener to join our dedicated team in Parks, Environment. This role is an opportunity to make a real difference in our vibrant and diverse city.

The main responsibilities of this role

• Work as part of a team or occasionally on their own, carrying out all general grounds maintenance duties e.g. fine sports turf, general grass cutting, shrub and flower bed maintenance, winter sports or any other horticultural tasks as identified on sites within the Local Authority district.
• Ensure that equipment is safe to use and that all safety requirements applicable to the operative, other employees and members of the public are adhered to.
• Operation of and minor maintenance of mowing equipment, small tools and plant.
• Security of equipment and plant being used on site.
• Carry out work to a high standard.
• Own health and safety whilst working on site, and also responsible for colleagues and members of the public.
