Job summary

Incommunities is recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative on a permanent basis. You will perform a range of outdoor tasks, including grass cutting and shrub bed care, using various equipment.

Training and PPE are provided, with IOSH Accredited training and a certificate on offer. Based at Bradford, you’ll join a social housing landlord with a large local presence; a starting salary of £26,787 per year applies, with good holiday allowance and a pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Basic grounds maintenance knowledge or willingness to learn.
• Full UK manual driving licence is essential.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete paperwork.
• Criminal conviction checks may be required.

Job description

We are recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join us on a permanent basis. If you love the outdoors whether its rain or shine, then this could be the role for you! You'll carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks using various equipment, these tasks include grass cutting, shrub bed works and site clearance works. You will be provided with all the necessary support, PPE and equipment to carry out your role safely and effectively. In return, you will receive IOSH Accredited training and a certificate!

Duties include:

• Deliver a grounds maintenance service based on customer involvement, satisfaction and sustainability
• Work as part of a team to maintain all Incommunities spaces to a high standard of appearance and safety
• Carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, shrub bed works and site clearance works
• Comfortable using heavy equipment and carrying this to and from the van

You will be a star performer if you:

• You have basic grounds maintenance knowledge or the willingness to learn
• You have previously used tools such as mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers and back pack blowers
• You are an excellent team player with good communication skills
• You are self motivated, respectful, trustworthy and punctual
• Practical experience in a horticultural or arboriculture role and/or a qualification in this area
• A full UK manual driving license is essential
• The ability to follow verbal and written instructions and complete relevant paperwork
• At least 2 suitable references
• The willingness to work outdoors in all weathers and on all ground terrain types
• A general awareness of Health and Safety including safe site working practice
• A good work ethic and customer service skills to interact with our customers who may on occasion approach the grounds team with queries
• Right to Work in the UK - Visa Sponsorship is not available
• A basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required for the successful candidate as part of the pre-employment process - Criminal Conviction Checks
