Job summary

Morson Group are exclusively recruiting for Skilled Fabricators to work on behalf of our client GKN at their Filton site (BS34 9AU). Suitable candidates must have a recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3, with certs provided with application.

Rates start at £20.17/hr days, rising after stamp, plus overtime and allowances. Shifts include 7-day fortnight days, with standard 35 hours per week and potential travel/ accommodation allowances.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 required, certificates must be provided with application.
• Experience with stainless steel, titanium or aluminium fittings.
• Ability to read technical drawings and use jigs to assemble parts.

Responsibilities

• Work with metals thinner than 3 mm.
• Ensure parts are produced on a right-first-time basis.
• Ensure calibrated equipment is within date for use.
• Be responsible for timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system.
• Highlight non-conformances to the Process Team Leader.
• Adhere to GKNAF Quality Procedures.
• Health & Safety responsibilities under HASAWA 1974.
• Maintain general housekeeping within the area.

Suitable candidates must either have a recognised and relevant apprenticeship OR the equivalent NVQ Level 3 standard **CERTS MUST BE PROVIDED WITH APPLICATION**

Rate(s): £20.17 per hour Days (once stamp gained rate rises to £21.00 per hour)

7 Day Fortnight Day £25.21 per hour (once stamp gained rate rises to £26.25 per hour) All overtime £30.26 per hour (with stamp £31.50 per hour)

Trialling a Travel / Accommodation allowance for Fabricators:

• Over 50 miles away £700 Receipted & subject to Tax and NI
• Over 75 miles away £800 Receipted & subject to Tax and NI

Standard Hours: 35 per week on days / average of 41 hours on 7-day fort day

Other working hours information: Days (4 Day Week Hours are 7am to 4.15pm)

7 Day Fortnight Day: Week 1 is Mon, Tues, Weds, Sat and Sun - Week 2 is Thurs and Fri

7am-6:45pm (11 hrs and 45 mins per day)

Shift Pattern: Core Days 2 weeks – then will move onto 7 Day Fortnight Days

PROFILE

The use of hand, electrical and pneumatic tools and bending machines to shape, form and assemble metal products within drawing limits. Desired abilities to include (but not limited to):

• Use of jigs to assemble parts made from stainless steel, titanium or aluminium
• Fitting
• Swaging
• Measuring machinery and jigs
• Awareness of recognised quality process, i.e. ISO 9001, AS/EN9100, or similar

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Working with metals that have less than 3-millimetre thickness
• Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
• Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
• Responsible for general housekeeping within the area

KEY SKILLS

• A recognised and relevant apprenticeship or the equivalent NVQ Level 3 standard **CERTS MUST BE PROVIDED**
• Previously worked with thin plate materials 3mm and under
• Previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment
• Ability to understand technical drawings/limits.
• Must be able to work in small teams with Process Team Leaders
• Self-motivated team player with good communication skills
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives would be desirable
