Job summary

Morson Talent is recruiting Skilled Fabricators for GKN at Filton (BS34 9AU). Candidates should have a recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 with CERTS. The role involves working with thin plate materials, reading technical drawings, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Travel/accommodation allowance is available for eligible distances. Standard hours are 35 per week on days, with a 7-day fortnight option and overtime allowances.

Qualifications

• Requires recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (CERTS must be provided).
• Experience working with thin plate materials 3mm and under.
• Manufacturing/factory environment experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/limits.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand, electrical and pneumatic tools and bending machines within drawing limits.
• Assemble parts using jigs for stainless steel, titanium or aluminium.
• Perform swaging and use measuring machinery and jigs.
• Ensure parts are produced right first time and equipment is in date.
• Highlight non-conformances to the Process Team Leader and follow GKNAF QA procedures.
• Comply with HASAWA 1974 health and safety requirements and maintain area housekeeping.

Rate(s): £20.17 per hour Days (once stamp gained rate rises to £21.00 per hour)

7 Day Fortnight Day £25.21 per hour (once stamp gained rate rises to £26.25 per hour) All overtime £30.26 per hour (with stamp £31.50 per hour)

Trialling a Travel / Accommodation allowance for Fabricators:

Over 50 miles away £700 Receipted & subject to Tax and NI

Over 75 miles away £800 Receipted & subject to Tax and NI

PROFILE

• The use of hand, electrical and pneumatic tools and bending machines to shape, form and assemble metal products within drawing limits. Desired abilities to include (but not limited to):
• Use of jigs to assemble parts made from stainless steel, titanium or aluminium
• Swaging
• Measuring machinery and jigs
• Awareness of recognised quality process, i.e. ISO 9001, AS/EN9100, or similar

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Working with metals that have less than 3-millimetre thickness
• Ensure parts are produced on a 'right first time' basis
• Ensure that any calibrated equipment used is within date
• Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
• Responsible for highlighting any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
• Adhering to the requirements of the GKNAF Quality Procedures
• Accountable for Health & Safety requirements under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
• To hold first party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
• Responsible for general housekeeping within the area

KEY SKILLS

• A recognised and relevant apprenticeship or the equivalent NVQ Level 3 standard **CERTS MUST BE PROVIDED**
• Previously worked with thin plate materials 3mm and under
• Previous manufacturing experience in a factory environment
• Ability to understand technical drawings/limits.
• Must be able to work in small teams with Process Team Leaders
• Self-motivated team player with good communication skills
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support GKNAF continuous improvement initiatives would be desirable
