Job summary

Rullion is recruiting a site-based wiring specialist to join a UK-wide operation with a head office in Stone, Staffordshire. The role focuses on on-site wiring of protection and control systems for transmission, distribution and generation projects, with travel to customer sites as required.

You will interpret diagrams, perform assemblies, and assist with testing and commissioning activities, while adhering to safety and quality standards. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-year experience as a site-based wire person.
• Experience of EC&I installation (substation control or protection systems).
• Able to read circuit diagrams, assembly prints, wiring schedules and parts lists.
• Willing to travel and work away at customer sites.
• Full UK driving license is required.

Responsibilities

• On-site wiring of protection and control systems for transmission, distribution and power generation projects.
• Assemble cubicles, cable tray and hardware per drawings.
• Assist hardware team with building and testing test rigs.
• Coordinate with site supervisor/engineer to resolve issues.
• Perform electrical safety checks and inspections per standards.
• Liaise with site management and commissioning engineers.

Location: UK Wide - Head office in Stone, Staffordshire

Full Site Based/Hybrid/Remote Working: On site 5 days per week - Multiple sites across the UK

Hours of work: Up to 40 hours per week

• You will be primarily responsible for the on-site wiring of protection systems and control systems for transmission, distribution and power generation station projects.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

• Have a Minimum 1-year experience of being a Site based wire person
• Experience of E, C & I installation (Substation Control Systems, Protections systems or similar)
• Able to read and interpret circuit diagrams, general assembly prints, wiring schedules and parts lists.
• Must be prepared to travel and work away at customer sites
• Full UK Driving License.
• The assembly and wiring of electrical protection systems and control systems for transmission of varying size and complexity using drawings, parts lists, and specifications. This shall include cable installations and terminations, glanding and termination of paired and multicore cables, Copper, and FO communications cables as necessary.
• Mechanical assembly of cubicles, framework, cable tray/ladder racking and desks.
• Assist with the hardware team with building and testing of the test rigs.
• Assist with ITP check sheets with the site Supervisor / Manager
• Updating issue logs and communicating directly with responsible Site Manager/supervisor, design, or commissioning engineers to resolve issues identified.
• Equipment builds and configuration inspection, LVD electrical safety checks, Earth bond continuity test, point to point wiring checks, High voltage withstand test, Insulation resistance test, Power up, fusing and equipment functionality checks.
