Job summary

Cranswick PLC, operating as Yorkshire Baker in South Yorkshire, is seeking a Site Technical Manager to lead the Technical Team and ensure compliance with legislation, customer requirements and Cranswick/ BRC standards. You will drive food safety, legality and quality across the site and prepare for audits.

Reporting to the site leadership, you will develop technical strategies, coach teams, manage KPIs and implement improvements that align with Cranswick pillars and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ proven management experience in a similar role within food manufacturing.
  • Drive to succeed with excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong management skills with experience in leading a team and stakeholders.
  • Experience with M&S codes of practice and BRC standard.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Technical Manager to join our team, here at Yorkshire Baker. The main purpose of this role is to lead the Technical Team so that the site systems and procedures comply with all relevant legislation and customer requirements, as well as ensuring the safety, legality and quality of all products manufactured onsite, making sure they are all compliant with the Cranswick Manufacturing standard as well as BRC standard.

Main duties include (but not limited to):
  • Provide management, direction and development for the team; ensure they are motivated, managing their workload, hitting deadlines and have the environment and tools to complete tasks effectively
  • Proactive approach to network and manage key technical customer contacts
  • Strong working relationships are expected across all internal and external contacts
  • Help develop expertise across the site, fully understanding the processes and constraints, to continuously improve food safety, legality and quality compliance across the site
  • Coach operations, engineering, hygiene and QA teams to drive the site quality culture
  • Be conversant with the site strategy, technical strategy and Cranswick four strategic pillars (QVIP) as well as Second Nature (sustainability strategy).
  • Key stakeholder and member of the site Crisis Management Team
  • Drive the Food Safety Culture and KPI performance of the site
  • Accountability for attaining the desired result in 3 rd Party and Customer audits and visits and to ensure that the site is prepared for all known visits and audit ready every day
  • Accountability for the site HACCP and maintenance of the Quality Management System
  • Accountability for delivering technical elements of the stage and gate product development process
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of current best practice and potential use of available technology using relevant benchmark operations
  • Propose and implement capital expenditure projects that benefit the department and site processes to aid continuous improvement
Candidate requirements:
  • A strategic vision, with experience of working with M&S codes of practice and BRC standard
  • A drive to succeed with excellent communication, logical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong management skills with proven experience of managing a team as well as stakeholders, with excellent influencing & persuasion skills
  • At least 5 years’ proven management experience in a similar role within food manufacturing
  • Level 4 Food Safety (Advanced)
  • Level 4 HACCP and Advanced TACCP
  • Level 4 Listeria and Allergen Management
