Job summary

Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust is seeking a proactive Site Supervisor to lead our caretaking team at Josephine Butler Campus and support an efficient lettings service. You will help keep the school environment safe, compliant, and well-maintained for students, staff and visitors.

This role focuses on out-of-hours operations, health and safety, and coordinating maintenance, with regular performance conversations and strong liaison with senior leaders.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading a facilities or caretaking team.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and risk assessment.
  • Experience coordinating out-of-hours operations and lettings support.
  • Ability to manage maintenance issues and basic repairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with leadership teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the caretaking team, including performance management and regular one to ones.
  • Support the lettings team to ensure smooth out of hours operations.
  • Monitor caretaking activities to ensure compliance with Trust policies and school routines.
  • Oversee health & safety procedures, including risk assessments and statutory checks.
  • Ensure fire alarms, safety systems and site monitoring processes are completed and recorded.
  • Respond to emergency and out of hours call outs where required.
  • Carry out minor repairs and coordinate reporting of maintenance issues.
  • Liaise closely with Headteachers and the Director of Health & Safety & Estates.
  • Maintain accurate records of compliance, monitoring and incidents.

Salary: Band 6(£32,061 – £34,434)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week, all year round

The Trust is seeking a proactive and reliable Site Supervisor to lead our caretaking team at Josephine Butler Campus and support the delivery of an efficient site and lettings service.


This is a key role within our facilities team, ensuring that our school environment is safe, compliant, and well-maintained for students, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and supervise the caretaking team, including performance management and regular one to ones

You will play a central role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mechanical, electrical, and heating systems, and in maintaining the security of the school site.
