Job summary

Axil is seeking a Site Supervisor to join our team at the Peterborough customer site. You will manage daily waste operations, ensure safety and compliance, and support both our team and the customer.

You will supervise operatives, drive waste segregation best practice, and maintain strong relationships with the client. A proactive, hands-on approach and forklift certification are prized for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience within waste management, operations, logistics, manufacturing, or a similar environment.
• Strong Health & Safety practices and compliance.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Counterbalance Forklift Licence (or willingness to maintain certification).

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day waste management operations across the site.
• Identify and segregate waste streams, ensuring safe storage and handling.
• Support site management to keep operations running smoothly.
• Promote best-practice in waste segregation and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Agency, and regulations.
• Conduct inspections, documentation, and maintain operational standards.
• Inspect onsite equipment (FLTs and compactors) and report defects.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Maintain risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Coordinate daily activities of onsite operatives.
• Produce reports and communicate with customers and management.

You'll play a key role in ensuring waste operations run smoothly while supporting both our team and our customer.

What you’ll be doing

As a Site Supervisor, you'll oversee day-to-day waste management activities, ensuring all waste streams are handled safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental and health & safety requirements. You'll also help drive best practice, support site personnel, and build strong relationships with our customer.

• Oversee daily waste management operations across the site.
• Ensure all waste streams are correctly identified, segregated, and stored in accordance with company and site procedures.
• Work closely with site management teams to support the smooth running of operations.
• Promote waste segregation best practice and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Agency, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct compliance checks, inspections, and documentation to maintain operational standards.
• Carry out daily inspections of onsite equipment, including FLTs and compactors, reporting defects as required.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure risk assessments and safe systems of work are maintained and updated.
• Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of onsite operatives.
• Produce reports and maintain effective communication with customers and operational management teams.

• Counterbalance Forklift Licence (or willingness to maintain certification).
