Crofton is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer to join our team.
The Site Safety Officer will ensure that job sites adhere to occupational health policies and procedures to promote effective safety operations in the field. Hours may vary and travel may be required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist Director of Safety and Safety Coordinator, the project team and leadership with incident investigations, corrective action, Safety related program improvements, and final reports.
- Provide safety and health technical support and training to safety coordinators, project managers and field employees.
- Evaluate all field safety and health practices, including emergency response procedures, for improvement in effectiveness and compliance.
- Conduct documented audits and inspections of worksites and areas.
- Maintain SDS database to meet current status.
- Work daily with operations to assess the associated risks of multiple job sites.
- Monitor and report all incidents and report trends.
- Performs detailed incident investigations and produces thorough incident reports.
- Evaluate field safety and health practices, including emergency response procedures, for improvement in effectiveness and compliance as well identify any gaps.
- Develop training materials and effectively deliver training and instruction at a variety of meeting settings.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to take initiative and work independently to complete all safety tasks required by Crofton Policy, the customers requirements and any Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan.
- Know how to perform detailed equipment, location, and tool inspections and ensure inspections are conducted as needed.
- Proficient computer skills, including fluency with MS Office; PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry-specific safety standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and communicate safety protocols to employees and contractors.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in occupational health & safety, Construction Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety coordination or related roles within the construction industry
- Experience conducting safety inspections and implementing corrective actions.
Other Requirements:
- OSHA 500 is desired. If not currently certified, must have the capability to attain the certification within 6 months of hire.
- OSHA 10, 30, and 510.
- EM385-1-1 (desired).
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
- Forklift/JLG trained.
- CHST Certified Safety & Health Technician (desired).
- CSP or ASP Certification (desired).
- Valid Drivers License and ability to drive to project sites with company vehicle.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
- May require travel.
- Exposure to characteristic construction and marine site dangers.
- Must be on-call to address incidents, injuries, emergencies, harsh weather and other issues at the jobsite.
