Job Title: Site Manager

Job Location: Hitachi Energy, Lackenby NG 400kV Substation – Middlesbrough (5 days per week on site)

Contract Length: 12 Months Contract

Industry: Energy

Working Hours: 8 per day / 40 per week

Role Overview:

Supervise and coordinate the work of internal and external resources and equipment technical specialists during on-site installation/construction activities related to the assigned discipline to assure cost-effective execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements.

Discipline = Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Field Instrumentation, etc.

What you will do:

Supervises a team of employees in the execution of tasks for an assigned area of responsibility. Ensures coordination of appropriate work assignments for the assigned area. Typically responsible for performance reviews for team members.

We are looking for candidates with several years of experience previously as a Site Supervisor.

Candidates must have good experience with Site Management, Health & Safety (OHS), Environment, Quality Assurance & Control, Installation Works, and basic knowledge of Commissioning and Civil Works.

  1. Site planning: Plans on-site project activities related to the assigned discipline with Site Manager or Site Construction Manager, including necessary local resources, equipment, and milestones. Coordinates agreement between customer and external resources on installation/construction targets, health and safety requirements, site organization, and policy.
  2. Site coordination and monitoring: Responsible, from receiving the assigned site area from the customer or Project Manager to handover, for coordinating all on-site activities related to the assigned discipline to ensure the successful execution of start-up, installation/construction, erection, testing, and commissioning activities in alignment with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements.
  3. Stakeholder relations: Serves as a project representative by building and maintaining effective relationships with customers and other local organizations.
  4. Health, safety, and environment (HSE) and project security: Ensures detailed and up-to-date construction H&S plan is in place for each work pack, compliant with the company's plan. Ensures all on-site resources are properly trained on health, safety, and environment policies and promotes safety considerations throughout the project. Has the authority to suspend activities in case of HSE violations.
  5. Material handling: Ensures correct handling, storage, and installation of Hitachi-delivered equipment, coordinating on-site storage and shipment logistics to secure timely delivery.
  6. Sub-contractors: Manages sub-contractors hired by ABB to ensure quality and progress meet delivery standards and deadlines.
  7. Site cost management: Monitors project costs against forecasts, estimates final costs, and manages petty cash and local purchasing within delegated authority.
  8. Documentation: Ensures all documentation is updated, maintained, and used correctly for construction work on site.
  9. People leadership and development: Ensures the area is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed. Guides, motivates, and develops team members, and manages local site facilities and resources.
