Job summary

SUEZ in the United Kingdom is seeking a dedicated site operator to load shovels, FLT and tele-handlers across the North Tyneside site. You will manage vehicle loading tasks for curtain-sided vehicles, shipping containers and bulk loads, while ensuring safety and compliance with the site license.

The role requires daily pre-operational checks, routine maintenance of mobile and fixed plant, and collaboration with production teams to maintain a tidy, compliant site.

Qualifications

• Willing to train and obtain mobile plant operation qualifications.
• Flexible to cover holidays and sick days when required.
• Safety conscious with a mindset for continuous improvement.
• Experience in the waste industry is an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Operate loading shovels, FLT and tele-handlers across the site loading various vehicles.
• Maintain safe operation of fixed machinery such as bailing machines.
• Complete daily pre-operational safety checks and routine maintenance of mobile and fixed plant.
• Ensure waste deliveries comply with site licence and paperwork.
• Direct customer vehicles to disposal areas and assist with off-loading as required.
• Comply with material export requirements including photos, paperwork and container seals.
• Assist Sampling Operatives with collection of output samples.
• Keep the site clean and tidy and support end-of-shift clean-ups.
• Support lean and 5S activities to maintain an efficient workplace.
• Work as part of a team to sustain a cost-effective operation and safety.
• Adhere to health, safety and welfare duties at all times.

Job description

What will I be doing?

• You will carry out the operation of loading shovels, FLT & tele-handlers across the site, loading a variety of different types of vehicles such as curtain sided vehicles, shipping containers and bulk haulage walking floors.
• To ensure the safe and efficient operation of fixed machinery, such as bailing machines.
• To sustain the completion of preoperational safety and operator checks.
• Completing daily checks and maintenance of mobile plant, Fixed Plant and equipment used at the facility.
• Ensuring that all deliveries of waste are following the site licence, and any associated paperwork is completed.
• Carry out inspections on incoming product(s) in line with the site Waste Acceptance Criteria and report any non-compliant loads.
• To direct customer’s vehicles to the various disposal areas and assist them with off-loading as required.
• Ensuring compliance with all material export requirements such as photo’s, paperwork and container seals.
• Assisting Sampling Operatives with collection of output samples.
• To comply fully with all company and local procedures.
• To ensure the site is kept clean and tidy at all times.
• To assist Production staff with their duties during end of shift clean-ups and plant downtime.
• Contributing to lean and 5’s activities across the site in order to maintain a clean, organised and efficient workplace.
• To work as part of a team to maintain an efficient and cost-effective operation.
• Ensuring that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
• Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.
  

What are the requirements?

• We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who is willing to train and obtain mobile plant operation qualifications. You will be expected to join the current site team to ensure site operations exceed the standards required, you will need:
• A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
• A safety conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.
• Previous experience within the waste industry or other high-volume production processes is an advantage, but not a necessity.
