Job summary

SUEZ is hiring at our Lancaster site for a hands-on Plant Operator to run loading shovels, FLT and telehandlers across the site.

You'll load a variety of vehicles, carry out pre-operational safety checks, assist with end-of-shift duties and contribute to lean improvements while maintaining a clean, compliant site. Applicants with CPCS/NPORS will have an advantage; training can be provided for the right person.

Qualifications

• Experience operating plant machinery and loading equipment.
• CPCS/NPORS or equivalent certification preferred, training available for right candidate.

Job description

What will I be doing?

You will carry out the operation of loading shovels, FLT & tele-handlers across the site, loading a variety of different types of vehicles such as curtain sided vehicles, shipping containers and bulk haulage walking floors.

• To safely and efficiently operate fixed machinery, such as bailing machines.
• Maintaining the completion of preoperational safety and operator checks.
• Frequently complete daily checks and maintenance of mobile plant, fixed plant and equipment used at the facility.
• Ensuring that all deliveries of waste are in compliance with the site licence and any associated paperwork is completed.
• To carry out inspections on incoming product(s) in line with the site waste acceptance criteria and report any non-compliant loads.
• To direct customers vehicles to the various disposal areas and assist them with off-loading as required.
• Ensuring the compliance with all material export requirements such as photo’s, paperwork and container seals.
• Assisting sampling operatives with collection of output samples.
• Ensure the site is kept clean and tidy at all times and to comply fully with all company and local procedures.
• Assisting production staff with their duties during end of shift clean-ups and plant downtime.
• To contribute to lean and 5’s activities across the site in order to maintain a clean, organised and efficient workplace.
• To work as part of a team to maintain an efficient and cost-effective operation, ensuring that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
• Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.

What are the requirements?

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to join the current site team to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.

• In order to make an immediate impact, we are ideally seeking an experienced plant operator, who holds the relevant CITB/CPCS/NPORS certification or equivalent, but for the right candidate training can be given.
• A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
• A safety conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.
• Previous experience within the waste industry or other high-volume production processes is an advantage, but not a necessity.
