Job summary

Veolia is recruiting for a hands-on sites operator at Ling Hall Composting Facility in Rugby. The role involves shredding waste with a front shovel loader, maintaining compost piles, and running day-to-day site operations including leachate management and weighbridge checks. The candidate should have a front shovel loader licence, a full driving licence, and a grasp of CMS safety practices. The position emphasises safety, training, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Front shovel loader licence or equivalent.
• Full driving licence.
• Previous experience in a similar operational manual handling role.
• Willing to complete CMS training.
• Health and Safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Check incoming wastes and operate a front shovel loader to shred waste.
• Maintain compost piles and finishing line.
• Carry out day-to-day site operations and leachate management.
• Oversee plant maintenance and deputise for the senior operator.
• Operate weighbridge and perform windrow turning.
• Site litter picking and general site hygiene.

Job description

Salary - £28,683.64 plus overtime when needed Hours - 42.5 per week. Monday to Friday – 08:00 - 16:00 (30 mins unpaid lunch daily) Saturday – 08:00 till 13:00 Location - Ling Hall Composting Facility, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV23 9HH

What will you be doing?

Checking incoming wastes, operating a front shovel loader to shred the waste, maintaining compost piles and compost finishing line Carry out site operations of the compost site day to day activities Responsible for Site Operations covering composts, leachate management Responsible for plant and maintenance Deputise for senior site operator in their absence. Responsible for plant and associated attachments on all sites, including maintenance. Operate weighbridge Checking incoming loads Windrow turning using a front shovel loader Litter picking the site
