Job summary

Veolia Group is hiring at our Hertfordshire site to operate a wheeled loading shovel and support waste management operations. The role involves loading HGVs, managing stockpiles, and performing routine site maintenance while adhering to safety policies.

The ideal candidate has a loading shovel licence or equivalent, with experience on heavy plant and valid operator cards such as NPORS or CPCS. A proactive approach to safety and teamwork is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Loading Shovel licence or equivalent required.
• Experience operating similar heavy plant is preferred.
• Valid operator competency cards such as NPORS or CPCS are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wheeled loading shovel and load HGVs; run the mobile shredder.
• Monitor and organise material stockpiles and transport items across the site.
• Perform daily pre-use safety inspections and basic upkeep (greasing/cleaning).
• Weighbridge duties when needed and report any faults in a timely manner.
• Follow health, safety and environmental regulations and wear PPE at all times.
• Keep work areas clean and orderly and assist with basic site duties as required.

What will you be doing?

• Operating a wheeled loading shovel
• Loading HGV vehicles and operating the mobile shredder
• Monitor, organise, and maintain material stockpiles and transport items across the facility.
• Conduct daily pre-use safety inspections, perform basic upkeep like greasing and cleaning, and report any mechanical faults.
• Weighbridge duties when needed
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, wear required PPE, and keep work areas clean
