Job summary

Build Maintain Recruit Limited is recruiting a Site Operative for a growing specialist engineering business based in South Devon. This hands-on role combines practical assembly, installation and construction work, with an experienced technical team providing training and a clear progression path toward Site Supervisor and beyond.

You'll gain exposure to varied projects, travel to sites with overnight stays, and develop practical skills in civil, mechanical or maintenance tasks while following

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in construction or maintenance.
• Able to follow technical instructions and standards.
• Willing to travel and stay away from home.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal components on and off site.
• Set out and install fabricated components.
• Use power tools including concrete cutting equipment and 110V tools.
• Carry out hot works and small concrete works.
• Drill and install anchors.
• Install access systems (handrails, ladders).
• Travel to project sites with overnight stays.
• Work near water where required.

Build Maintain Recruit is recruiting a Site Operative for a growing specialist engineering business based in South Devon.

This is a varied, hands-on opportunity combining practical assembly, installation and construction work. You'll work alongside an experienced technical team, with training and a clear progression path towards Site Supervisor and beyond.

The role would suit someone with around 3-5 years' experience in construction, maintenance or workshop operations, looking to develop their skills within an engineering environment.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assembling metal components on and off site.
• Setting out and installing fabricated components.
• Using power tools, including concrete cutting equipment and 110V tools.
• Carrying out hot works and small concrete works, including formwork.
• Drilling and installing mechanical and chemical anchors.
• Installing access systems, including handrails and fixed ladders.
• Working near water where projects require it.
• Travelling to project sites, with frequent working away and overnight stays.

About you

• Practical experience in construction, maintenance or installation.
• Some experience of civil, structural or mechanical engineering projects.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions and construction standards.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good IT skills and a willingness to learn new tools and processes.
• A willingness to travel and work away.

A relevant HNC or Level 3 NVQ in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering maintenance or construction operations would be advantageous.
