Job summary

Edge Recruits is seeking a Site Supervisor for an on-site role in Plymouth. You will lead site activities, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently.

The role requires strong health & safety knowledge and excellent communication. You will work closely with Project Managers to maintain high-quality project delivery across varied engineering projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience as Site Supervisor or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to lead site teams and coordinate subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate site activities with personnel and subcontractors.
  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to health & safety policies, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, clients and subcontractors; escalate issues when needed.
  • Maintain project documentation, site equipment, vehicles and workspace to standards.

Site Supervisor

Location: Plymouth (on-site)

Salary: £40,000 per annum

Employment Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours per week

About the Role

Our client, a well-established engineering business in Plymouth, is seeking a Site Supervisor to manage and coordinate site activities. This role involves leading site operations to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently, while adhering to Health & Safety standards. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers and subcontractors to maintain high-quality project delivery.

The Role
  • Plan, supervise and coordinate site activities involving company personnel, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Manage day-to-day site operations to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all personnel work in accordance with Health & Safety policies, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Liaise with Project Managers, clients and subcontractors, escalating issues where required.
  • Maintain project documentation, site equipment, vehicles, and working areas to company standards.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience in a Site Supervisor, Site Foreman or similar construction/engineering leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ability to lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.

Person Specification
Essential Experience
  • Previous experience in a Site Supervisor, Site Foreman or similar construction/engineering leadership role.
Essential Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Ability to lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience within fabrication, structural steelwork, engineering or industrial projects.
  • Relevant site-based qualifications such as SSSTS, SMSTS or CSCS.
  • Experience working on projects involving welding, refurbishment or industrial installations.
