Job summary

SUEZ in Darwen is seeking a site operative focused on customer service and efficient site operations. You will assist the public with site usage, maintain records, and help ensure materials are managed safely and in compliance with site rules.

Travel to both Darwen and Blackburn sites may be required, and training will be provided for equipment use where needed. The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a flexible approach to cover holidays and sick days.

Qualifications

• With potential to gain IOSH health & safety and COTC level 4 (waste industry specific), we are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will join the current site team to ensure operations exceed the standards required.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
• Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person, ensuring space to segregate and store material.
• Maintaining a tidy site within your areas of responsibility.
• Ensuring SUEZ complies fully with legal duties on health, safety and welfare of employees and others affected by actions.
• Co-operating with SUEZ and other employees to comply with site permit, legislation, and SUEZ Policies and Procedures.
• Any other duties reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.

What will I be doing?

Providing excellent levels of customer service, you will advise and assist members of the public on how to use the site in order to maximise recovery of materials they are depositing, which will involve:

• Maintaining accurate records for the removal of materials from the site.
• Controlling the exchange of containers by booking loads with the relevant person, thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
• Maintaining a tidy site within your areas of responsibility.
• Ensuring SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.
• Co-operating with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with the site permit, comply with all applicable legislation, and SUEZ Policies and Procedures.
• Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.

What are the requirements?

What you will need is:

• A good level of customer service and ability to work in a team.
• Ideally prior mobile plant use is desirable but full training will be given.
• A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
• There is a requirement to be able to travel to both Darwen & Blackburn sites so own transport is essential
