Job Description:

My client is looking to recruit a Site Operations & Warehouse Manager who will manage all elements of the warehousing and domestic transport operation within a busy Airfreight and distribution centre. This will include the overall management of the site and its facilities ensuring that all logistics solutions are fully integrated and designed to be cost efficient and improve customer service.

Responsibilities include:

• Transport administration, planning, and management of 3rd party carriers & internal drivers, warehouse inbound and outbound planning and processing.
• Efficient stock management and control of goods through the warehouse, along with managing effective staff and resource management.
• Overall control of housekeeping and the maintenance of a safe working environment.
• Implementing continuous improvement initiatives in line with a kaizen environment.
• Liaising with internal and external customers to ensure high-quality standards, accreditation, and KPI achievement.
• Ensuring health, safety, and welfare regulations are followed.
• Handling H&S and maintenance issues within the building.
• Managing quality and environmental standards for the site.
• Dealing with external contractors related to site issues and landlord interactions.
• Being the security responsible person for the role.

Additional Duties:

• Planning resources and staff to meet daily operational needs.
• Managing operational supervisors for timely completion of unloading, put-away, picking & packing, and loading activities.
• Creating and maintaining risk assessments and SSOW for all responsibilities.
• Monitoring operational costs and maintaining accurate records.
• Coordinating maintenance and repairs of operational machinery, including security equipment.
• Ensuring effective communication between team members, management, customers, and suppliers.
• Managing domestic transport activities with the Transport Manager and 3PL partners.
• Encouraging continuous improvement and housekeeping initiatives.
• Handling staff disciplinary procedures with HR support.
• Monitoring staff performance, attendance, and holidays.
• Maintaining staff training and supplier records.

Skills and Experience:

- Minimum of 3 years’ managerial experience in warehouse and transport environments.

- Experience within an airfreight setting.

- Strong leadership and motivational skills.

- Flexibility and reliability.

- Ability to work under pressure.

- AvSec and H&S certification desirable.

- Budget management experience.

- Excellent communication skills.

- O Licence holder preferred; training available if not.
