Job summary

Rullion in Blackburn Meadows Power, Sheffield seeks a General Duties Assistant to support plant operations, cleaning, safety, and security across the site. You will handle deliveries, operate forklift equipment, and assist with maintenance tasks under shift supervision.

Ideal candidates have at least 12 months experience with safety and environmental policies, a forklift and MEWP licence, and strong communication skills to coordinate with the operations team.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to communicate with all stakeholders.
• IT literacy for use of email, Word and Excel and weighbridge systems.
• A robust understanding of environmental, commercial and legal issues and their impact on plant operating conditions.
• Forklift truck and MEWP licences.
• Minimum 12 months experience operating within current safety, environmental and operational policies and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all plant routines including industrial cleaning, compliance monitoring and checks.
• Manage consumable deliveries and collections to/from site (sand, ash, lime, carbon and urea).
• Oversee general deliveries with forklift to unload items and ensure proper storage.
• Support shift operations for maintenance and safety activities.
• Monitor security systems and liaise with site control and emergency services during incidents.
• Maintain daily site safety, housekeeping and incident reporting.
• Perform first line maintenance within your competency range.
• Assist with on-site duties as required by site management, engineering or operations.
