Job summary

Total Employment Ltd. is recruiting a Site Officer for a welcoming and supportive school in Thetford. This hands-on role involves maintaining a safe, secure, well‑maintained environment and reporting to the Operations Officer.

You will handle day-to-day maintenance, security, and site requirements, with duties ranging from minor repairs to safety checks and liaising with contractors. DBS/safeguarding checks apply and DBS is required before appointment.

• Monitor alarms, access points and other security systems.
• Move furniture, receive deliveries and provide porterage.

Salary: £26,427–£26,847 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm

We are recruiting a Site Officer for a welcoming and supportive school in Thetford.

This is a varied, hands‑on position for someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in creating a safe, secure and well‑maintained environment. You will report to the Operations Officer and look after the school’s day‑to‑day maintenance, security and general site requirements.

What you’ll be doing

• Completing general maintenance and minor repairs around the school
• Carrying out basic plumbing and other practical tasks
• Identifying faults and reporting work that requires a specialist contractor
• Conducting routine health and safety checks
• Maintaining accurate maintenance, inspection and compliance records
• Supporting the security of the premises, including key-holder responsibilities
• Monitoring alarms, access points and other security systems
• Helping to maintain the school grounds and outdoor areas
• Moving furniture, receiving deliveries and providing general porterage
• Working with contractors and other service providers
• Using email and digital systems to record completed work
• Responding appropriately to hazards, faults and emergencies

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, caretaking or similar practical role would be ideal, although formal trade qualifications are not required.

• Capable of completing basic repairs and maintenance
