Job summary

Swavesey Village College is seeking a part‑time Site Officer to safeguard the premises, furniture and equipment and to oversee a safe, well‑maintained environment. You will split time across sites within the Trust and may be called upon as a key holder outside normal hours.

The role values a practical trade skill, basic cleaning and maintenance knowledge, and a commitment to health and safety. You will support colleagues with a hands‑on approach and join a friendly team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service and working with school staff.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety best practices is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage contractors and respond to helpdesk requests.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain security and care of the school buildings, furniture, fittings and equipment.
  • Ensure a safe physical environment and day‑to‑day site management.
  • Be willing to work across Trust sites and act as key holder out of hours.
  • Coordinate external contractors and ensure safety compliance.
  • Operate the Building Management System (BMS) for efficient building operation.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and repairs within capability.
  • Respond to maintenance requests via Iamcompliant in a timely manner.

Vacancy for Site Officer

Salary: Meridian Trust Support Grade 6, Points 7-12

Hours of work: 15 - 22.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Are you an enthusiastic, reliable, and dedicated individual? We have a great opportunity for a Site Officer to join a supportive, friendly team at Swavesey Village College.

You would ensure the security and care of the school buildings, furniture, fittings, and equipment. Alongside, maintaining a safe physical environment with particular emphasis on the day‑to‑day management of the site.

You would be based at Swavesey Village College; however we would ideally like someone willing to work across the other sites within the Trust to support colleagues in other schools occasionally and act as a key holder out of hours. This is a hands‑on role; a trade skill and knowledge of general cleaning, and maintenance operations and Health & Safety would be an advantage.

The Opportunity
  • To take pride in ensuring that the premises are in an acceptable state of tidiness and repair providing a safe and secure learning environment
  • To be a focal point for the teams in respect of health and safety. For example, ensuring all risk assessments, workplace inspections and other checks are completed in a timely and competent fashion.
  • Managing external contractors, ensuring they work safely and in compliance with our safeguarding policies.
  • Respond to Helpdesk requests for maintenance support from building occupiers through our maintenance and compliance management software tool, Iamcompliant.
  • Utilise the Building Management System (BMS) to operate the buildings effectively and efficiently.
  • Carry out maintenance and repairs to the building, furniture, and equipment within the scope of a competent handyperson.
  • Respond to Iamcompliant Helpdesk requests from building occupiers in good time.

  • Highly motivated, calm, and professional.
  • Has experience of customer service.
  • Committed, reliable, and able to build and sustain excellent working relationships.
  • Is flexible, with high professional standards.
  • Can use initiative, and work as part of a team.
  • Confident using IT equipment, especially computers.
  • Has a good understanding of Health & Safety best practice principles.
  • Experienced in managing external contractors.
