Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a Site Manager for the Rickmansworth Recycling Centre to lead on-site operations, safety and customer service. You will supervise operatives, manage waste streams, maintain site paperwork and support improvements through training and trials.

The role requires practical, physical work and the ability to mentor a small team in a busy environment. Applicants should be ready to work in varying weather conditions and provide guidance to residents on waste

Qualifications

• Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
• Ability to advise residents on waste disposal.
• Calm under pressure and follow safety procedures.
• Maintain high service standards in all weather conditions.
• Experience of working under prolonged periods of physical effort.
• Experience of leading a team of operatives.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor site operatives to ensure safe opening and closing.
• Maintain site cleanliness and efficient operations daily.
• Manage site documentation (paper and digital) and advise residents on disposal.
• Operate or supervise use of on-site machinery including JCB, with training.
