Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking four permanent Site Operatives for a Household Waste Recycling Centre in the Rotherham area. You will advise residents on safe waste disposal, segregate and store waste to environmental rules, and keep the site safe, clean and properly recorded.

The role is 37 hours per week with weekend work and a basic DBS check is required. Full training will be provided, and you will work with colleagues to operate and maintain site equipment, support recycling

Qualifications

• Must pass basic-level DBS check for unspent convictions.

Responsibilities

• Advise residents on safe waste disposal and proper site use.
• Ensure waste is segregated, stored and handled to requirements.
• Maintain health and safety standards, report hazards and incidents.
• Operate, inspect and maintain site equipment under training.
• Keep public areas clean, safe and fit for purpose.
• Support recycling targets through guidance and engagement.
• Complete operational checks and documentation accurately.
• Report defects or compliance concerns to supervisors.
• Collaborate with colleagues to keep site safe and compliant.
