Salary: up to £62,425, with a strong benefits package, optional overtime opportunities and our excellent pension scheme, where we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.

Full-time | Permanent role - based on a 37 hour week, with benefits designed to support work-life balance.

Closing Date: 7th September 2026

At ScottishPower, our people are the driving force behind everything we achieve. Their energy, expertise and ambition power our success - and we’re now looking for individuals who share that passion to help shape the future of our Transmission business within SP Energy Networks.

With major investment underway and some of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in our history, our Transmission teams are delivering essential upgrades that will transform how energy is transmitted across the South of Scotland. From large-scale network developments to future-focused expansion, the work you’ll be part of will play a vital role in enabling a cleaner, greener energy system.

Site Manager (Overhead Lines)

You’ll join an experienced and well-regarded multi-disciplined Construction team with strong overhead line, cable and substation expertise. You’ll be responsible for the construction of new build, replacement and refurbishment of major overhead line projects, working in a supportive environment where practical site knowledge is valued and high-profile projects are delivered safely and efficiently. Acting as the client’s primary on-site representative, you’ll take ownership of site activities and provide technical support and guidance throughout the overhead line construction phase.

What you’ll be doing
  • Monitor and manage contractor programmes in line with overall project delivery timelines
  • Build effective working relationships with both contractor & internal SPEN teams, including HSEQ, Design, Commercial and Land departments, to support project delivery and resolve site-related issues.
  • Oversee the construction and commissioning of overhead line projects
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations and environmental standards
  • Drive quality and environmental performance, ensuring mitigation measures are implemented and monitored
  • Support the delivery of works across distribution and transmission networks
What You’ll Bring

This is a strong opportunity for experienced linesmen/women, chargehands or supervisors who are ready to take the next step into site management, with support to develop the skills and qualifications needed for future progression.

You’ll thrive in a contractor-led environment and be motivated by leading teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. Your ability to influence, challenge and collaborate will be key to success in this role.

We’d be keen to hear from you if you have:
  • Experience working on overhead line distribution or transmission projects (11kV–400kV)
  • Experience in higher-voltage works (132kV, 275kV or 400kV) would be advantageous, but not essential
  • A good understanding of overhead line construction, maintenance or commissioning activities, such as foundations, pole/tower erection, stringing or reconductoring
  • Experience working within a DNO, utilities or infrastructure environment
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations, site safety requirements and temporary works
  • Experience reviewing, approving or working with RAMS and permit systems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors and site teams
Qualifications / certifications (or working towards):
  • SSSTS / SMSTS
  • First Aid
Overtime Payments (Overtime is optional)
  • Mon–Sat (midnight–8am): Double Time
  • Sundays: Double Time
What’s in it for you

With a strong pipeline of projects across Scotland and an order book covering the next 10 years, this role offers long-term stability and excellent opportunities for career progression, whether developing further within overhead lines or gaining experience across other disciplines such as substations and underground cables.

As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy several other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
