Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Site Manager to join our Facilities Management Projects team at BAE Systems sites in Samlesbury and Warton. You will oversee external contractors, enforce safety and CDM procedures, and support the project management team to deliver work safely and to high standards.

Qualifications

• SMSTS certification is essential.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Experience in construction, facilities management or project management environments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously.
• Experience reviewing RAMS and overseeing Permit to Work systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily activities of external contractors, ensuring work aligns with plans, inductions, schedules and site requirements.
• Manage contractor activities through robust health and safety and CDM processes, including RAMS reviews.
• Prepare, maintain and implement Construction Phase Plans (CPPs) and ensure works are properly planned, authorised and controlled.
• Act as an Authorised Person for Permit to Work systems, managing, approving and signing off permits for high-risk activities.
• Carry out regular site inspections, safety tours and observations to identify hazards and drive a strong safety culture.
• Coordinate with the Mitie Project Management team, contractors and stakeholders to support delivery and resolve issues promptly.
• Monitor project progress, keep accurate records and ensure documentation is managed per company requirements.
• Inspect completed works to ensure compliance with specifications and customer expectations.
• Support contractor performance management, addressing issues and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
• Contribute towards on-time project completion while minimising disruption to operations.
