Job summary

SP Energy Networks is seeking an experienced Site Manager (Electrical) to lead substation construction projects across Central and Southern Scotland. The role requires managing contractor performance, safety and quality on site, with daily travel to multiple sites and strong leadership in live electrical environments.

You’ll oversee energisation activities, review methodologies, and ensure delivery on time and within budget while coordinating with project teams and HSQE professionals.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation experience within live electrical environments
• Experience with primary plant, protection and control systems
• Interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
• Strong safety culture and site safety leadership
• Experience managing contractors on complex electrical projects
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily site activities across multiple construction fronts
• Ensuring contractor compliance with HSE and quality requirements
• Monitoring progress against plans and milestones
• Providing technical oversight and site leadership during construction and commissioning
• Reviewing construction methodologies for alignment with designs
• Managing work packages, site records and quality documentation
• Supporting commercial management of works including time and cost
• Building strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders
