Job summary

Bee Construction in Dowlais, South Wales, is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead a 15MW Battery Energy Storage System project. You will take day-to-day ownership of the site, manage subcontractors, and ensure QA, safety, and documentation are kept to a high standard.

Qualifications

• SMSTS, CSCS Black Card / Manager Card, and First Aid are required.

• Knowledge of RAMS, permits, ITPs and QA in construction is beneficial.
• Experience with BESS, solar PV, substation, HV/MV or renewable energy projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee site health & safety, inductions, toolbox talks and safe systems of work.
• Review RAMS, manage permits and ensure works align with approved documentation.
• Manage QA requirements, ITPs, inspections, hold points and construction records.
• Keep thorough photographic evidence for buried services and works.
• Identify issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Maintain daily/weekly records and communicate progress to the Project Manager.
• Liaise professionally with client, subcontractors and project team.

Rate: £280 per shift

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Duration: Long-term contract

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to take over the day-to-day management of an established 15MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Dowlais, South Wales.

This is a live project working on behalf of an established contractor within the renewable energy sector. We require somebody who can come into the project, quickly understand its current position and take ownership of the site through the remaining construction programme.

The Project

The project is already underway and includes civil engineering, groundworks, excavation, drainage, cable trenches and ducting, earthing infrastructure, concrete foundations, battery container installation, MV equipment, electrical infrastructure, substation works and ultimately testing and commissioning.

This is therefore ideally suited to somebody with previous experience of BESS, solar PV, substations, HV/MV infrastructure or major energy projects, combined with a good understanding of civil engineering works.

Responsibilities

• Take day-to-day ownership of the site and provide a visible management presence.

• Monitor progress against the construction programme and identify potential issues early.
• Manage site Health & Safety, including inductions, briefings, toolbox talks and safe systems of work.
• Review RAMS, manage permits and ensure works comply with approved documentation.
• Manage QA requirements, ITPs, inspections, hold points and associated construction records.
• Ensure comprehensive photographic evidence is maintained, particularly for buried services, ducting, earthing and works prior to backfilling.
• Identify quality, H&S or construction issues and ensure actions are closed out promptly.
• Maintain accurate daily and weekly records and communicate progress clearly with the Project Manager.
• Liaise professionally with the client, subcontractors and wider project team.

Candidate Requirements

• SMSTS.
• CSCS Black Card / Manager Card.
• First Aid.
• Strong Site Management experience within construction, civil engineering or energy infrastructure.
• Good working knowledge of RAMS, permits, ITPs and construction QA.
• Previous BESS, solar PV, substation, HV/MV or renewable energy experience is strongly preferred.

We are looking for somebody proactive, organised and comfortable taking ownership of a live project. The successful Site Manager must be happy maintaining a strong presence around the site while also ensuring reporting, QA documentation and project records are completed to a high standard.

A strong civil engineering background involving groundworks, drainage, ducting, concrete foundations and underground services would be particularly beneficial.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager looking for a long-term renewable energy project in South Wales.
