Job summary

Local Government is seeking a Site Manager in Oxfordshire to oversee refurbishment and construction projects on site and on the move between home and site offices. This client-side role emphasizes delivery of quality spaces for living, working, and visiting, with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

You will lead planning, coordination and supervision of staff and subcontractors, ensuring programmes and budgets are met while maintaining high standards.

• SMSTS minimum requirement
• Knowledge of refurbishment/construction systems and processes
• Knowledge of Health & Safety/CDM legislation
• Experience managing refurbishment & construction projects on site
• Desirable: experience on historic refurbishment projects
• Desirable: experience on publicly & privately owned/buildings

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Building Projects and Contracts Managers to plan resource requirements and ensure efficient purchasing & sub-letting.
• Produce a target programme, preliminary and plant schedule with the Contracts Manager.
• Coordinate staff, sub-contractors, material suppliers and others on site to meet quality and programme targets.
• Schedule work to meet budget and production targets while maintaining high quality.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation, ISO45001 and codes of practice.
• Complete startup procedures for safety, site establishment, notices, dilapidations, admin support, and equipment.
• Manage drawing registers, site records, maintenance manuals and archiving.
• Conduct regular site safety, quality checks, inspections, near-miss and incident reporting.

A prestigious local government body who encourage personal development and qualifications, require a Site Manager in Oxfordshire to oversee the provision of refurbished and construction projects which deliver great spaces for people to live, work and visit.

The primary duties of the Site Manager in Oxfordshire include:

• Collaborate with Building Projects and Contracts Managers to plan resource requirements well in advance to ensure efficient purchasing & sub-letting
• With the Contracts Manager produce a target programme, preliminary and plant schedule.
• Co-ordinate staff, sub-contractors, material suppliers and others on site to ensure an efficient method of build to the required quality and programme.
• Schedule work to be carried out to ensure budget & production targets are achieved and high quality of product is maintained.
• Ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with all appropriate health and safety legislation, codes of practice and ISO45001 safety system.
• Complete all start up procedures regarding safety, site establishment, notices, dilapidations schedules, administrative support, equipment etc
• Administer all incoming and outgoing information including drawing register, site records, maintenance manuals & archiving
• Carry out regular site safety, quality checks, inspections & near miss and incident reporting.

The successful candidate for the role of Site Manager in Oxfordshire should have the following qualifications and experience:

Essential

• Construction Related Qualification (SMSTS minimum)
• Knowledge of Refurbishment and Construction systems and processes
• Knowledge of Refurbishment and Construction Health & Safety/CDM legislation
• Experience in Managing Refurbishment & Construction Projects on site

Desirable

• Experience in working on historic refurbishment projects
• Experience in working on publicly & privately owned / accessed buildings
