This role requires strong leadership, extensive site management experience, and a solid background in commercial construction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
• Strong background delivering commercial construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and site management practices.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors and site teams effectively.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum + Benefits
Reporting To: Project Manager / Senior Project Manager / Contracts Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to join our growing construction team, delivering a range of commercial and public sector projects across Newcastle and the wider North-East region.

This role would particularly suit an individual with a strong background in commercial construction, ideally with experience delivering projects within the public sector, education, healthcare, local authority, or similar regulated environments.

As Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction activities on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day site operations from project commencement through to completion.
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour on site.
• Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and current legislation.
• Monitor programme progress and proactively identify and resolve any issues impacting delivery.
• Maintain excellent standards of quality control throughout all phases of construction.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and health and safety briefings.
• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and company Health & Safety policies.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, project teams, and key stakeholders.
• Coordinate site logistics, materials, plant, and labour requirements.
• Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, site diaries, and health and safety documentation.
• Support project delivery teams in achieving programme, commercial, and operational objectives.
• Attend project meetings and provide regular updates to senior management.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
• Strong background delivering commercial construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and site management practices.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors and site teams effectively.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
• CSCS Management Card.
• First Aid at Work Certificate.
• Experience working on public sector projects including education, healthcare, local authority, or government-funded schemes.
• Experience within occupied buildings and live operational environments.
• Temporary Works awareness.
