Job summary

St Helena School is seeking a skilled Site Manager to lead the site team and ensure the smooth running of the school environment. The role focuses on caretaking, maintenance, health and safety compliance, and effective supervision of the on-site team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day site operations, managing repairs and security, and coordinating lettings while maintaining a safe and welcoming school for students and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience of caretaking and/or buildings maintenance and security.
  • Experience of Health & Safety procedures and codes of practice.
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • The ability to manage your own time effectively and demonstrate a flexible, proactive approach.
  • The ability to carry out first line repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day care, maintenance, housekeeping, and security of the school site.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Carry out first-line repairs, general porterage, cleaning duties, and lettings supervision.
  • Act as a primary keyholder for out-of-hours emergencies and alarm call-outs.
  • Manage and deploy the site team effectively while demonstrating the ability to work independently.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive Site Manager to lead our site team and play a vital role in the smooth running of our school community.

  • Start Date: ASAP following pre-employment checks
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (full time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Premises & Facilities: Oversee the day-to-day care, maintenance, housekeeping, and security of the school site.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, risk assessments, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Hands-on Maintenance: Carry out first-line repairs, general porterage, cleaning duties, and lettings supervision.
  • Site Security: Act as a primary keyholder for out-of-hours emergencies and alarm call-outs.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and deploy the site team effectively while demonstrating the ability to work independently without close supervision.
