Job summary

Wates is seeking a Site Manager to lead day-to-day construction activities on a live prison project in Liverpool, working with the project team, supply chain and stakeholders. You will ensure safe, efficient delivery to required standards and maintain high quality across the works.

The role requires managing multiple work packages, coordinating labour and subcontractors, and maintaining accurate site records. SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid are desirable qualifications.

Job description

As Site Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction activities, working alongside the wider project team, supply chain partners and key stakeholders to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

• Managing and coordinating day-to-day site activities and subcontractors
• Ensuring works are delivered safely and in line with project health and safety requirements
• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying and resolving potential issues
• Maintaining high standards of quality throughout the works
• Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractor activities
• Managing individual work packages from commencement through to completion
• Carrying out site inspections, briefings and progress reviews
• Working closely with Project Managers, commercial teams, design teams and other site colleagues
• Building positive relationships with our supply chain and project stakeholders
• Maintaining accurate site records and documentation
• Promoting a positive health, safety and environmental culture across the project, As HMP Liverpool is a live prison environment, this role is subject to the successful completion and ongoing maintenance of the necessary security and prison clearances.

The required vetting and clearance process will form part of the recruitment and onboarding process, and appointment to the role will be conditional upon the relevant clearances being obtained.

We're looking for a Site Manager who can demonstrate:

• Previous Site Management experience within construction
• Main contractor or Tier 1 construction experience
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, sequencing and site management
• Experience managing subcontractors and multiple work packages
• A strong understanding of health and safety requirements
• Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills
• The ability to problem-solve and make effective decisions in a busy site environment
• A collaborative approach to working with colleagues, supply chain partners and stakeholders
• SMSTS
• CSCS
• Relevant First Aid qualification

Previous experience working within custodial, secure, government or other complex live environments would be advantageous, but we're also interested in hearing from Site Managers with strong transferable experience from other construction sectors.
