IES Utilities Group is seeking a Site Manager to oversee the safe and efficient delivery of non-infrastructure water projects across the Anglian Water region. You will lead site teams, manage subcontractors, and coordinate with Project Managers and clients to ensure work is completed to programme, within budget and to high standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in the UK Water Industry.
  • Experience delivering non-infrastructure water projects (minor civils and mechanical).
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary site teams.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and concrete repair methodologies.
  • Excellent health, safety and environmental compliance mindset.

About the Role

Due to continued growth within our Water Division, we are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the safe and efficient delivery of non-infrastructure (minor civils and mechanical) water projects throughout the Anglian Water region.

The role will primarily involve managing projects relating to above-ground assets, including:

  • Construction of chambers
  • Concrete water tank repairs
  • Refurbishment works
  • Waterproofing
  • Structural concrete repairs
  • Associated civil engineering works

These projects will be delivered at operational Water Treatment Works (WTWs), Service Reservoirs and Clean Water Sites.

Working closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, Clients and Supply Chain Partners, you will be responsible for day-to-day site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The majority of projects will be located across Colchester, Ipswich and the wider Anglian Water region.

Key Responsibilities
Site Management and Operational Delivery
  • Take full responsibility for the safe day-to-day management of site activities.
  • Manage direct labour, subcontractors, plant, materials and suppliers.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme requirements and client expectations.
  • Coordinate all activities associated with project and construction works.
  • Monitor progress against programme and proactively manage project risks.
  • Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and approved methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, progress reports and site documentation.
  • Support Project Managers and Contracts Managers with project reporting and planning activities.
Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality
  • Champion a positive health and safety culture across all sites.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Anglian Water standards and company management systems.
  • Review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings.
  • Ensure permit systems are implemented and managed effectively.
  • Undertake regular site inspections and audits.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
  • Ensure environmental controls and sustainability objectives are maintained throughout project delivery.
  • Promote a right-first-time approach to quality and workmanship.
Stakeholder and Client Management
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Anglian Water representatives and project stakeholders.
  • Attend client meetings and progress reviews as required.
  • Communicate effectively with operational site teams and supply chain partners.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to operational treatment processes whilst delivering construction activities.
  • Escalate project issues promptly and support timely resolution.
Resource and Team Leadership
  • Lead and motivate site teams to achieve project objectives.
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and ensure performance standards are maintained.
  • Assist with workforce planning and resource allocation.
  • Support employee development and training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement.
Experience and Qualifications
Industry Experience
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within the UK Water Industry.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering non-infrastructure water projects.
  • Experience working on:
    • Minor civils projects
    • Mechanical works
    • Concrete water tank repairs
    • Structural concrete refurbishment
    • Waterproofing and protective coating systems
    • Clean Water Treatment Works (WTWs)
    • Service Reservoirs and associated water assets
  • Experience working within live operational utility environments.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and multi-disciplinary site teams.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and concrete repair methodologies.
  • Good knowledge of water industry standards and specifications.
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and construction best practice.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Good understanding of quality assurance and inspection requirements.
