Job summary

The role requires strong construction experience, proven site leadership, and a commitment to health and safety. You will review drawings, manage subcontractors, monitor progress, and support handover.

• Proven experience as a Site Manager on main contractor schemes.
• Strong all-round construction background with delivery on complex schemes.
• Experience delivering commercial/industrial projects with value £10m–£20m.
• Confidently manage subcontractors, trades and site teams to achieve milestones.
• High standards of health, safety and quality across projects.
• Willingness to travel locally around Gloucester.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day running of construction sites from start to completion.
• Coordinate subcontractors, trades and site teams to deliver safely and efficiently.
• Monitor progress against programme and achieve key milestones.
• Review drawings, specifications and construction information.
• Maintain site logistics, sequencing and resource requirements.
• Identify and resolve site issues proactively.
• Liaise with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants and wider team.
• Carry out regular inspections and quality checks.
• Ensure works meet programme, specification and standards.
• Support successful handover and completion of projects.

An established UK main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Site Manager to join their team, working on projects across the Gloucester areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects typically valued between £10m and £20m, with a range of work including industrial warehouses, commercial buildings and other large-scale developments.

This is a great opportunity for a Site Manager with a strong all-round construction background who is looking for a long-term position with an established contractor and a strong pipeline of work across the region.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing the day-to-day running of construction sites from commencement through to completion
• Coordinating subcontractors, trades and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely and efficiently
• Monitoring progress against programme and ensuring key milestones are achieved
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety and quality across the project
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction information
• Managing site logistics, sequencing and resource requirements
• Identifying and resolving site issues proactively
• Liaising with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants and wider project team

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience as a Site Manager working for a main contractor
• Strong all-round construction experience
• Experience delivering commercial, industrial or similar projects
• Confident managing subcontractors, trades and site teams
• Excellent health & safety and quality awareness
• Valid SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid qualifications; relevant construction qualification such as NVQ, HNC or equivalent preferred
• Based within a commutable distance of Gloucester and willing to travel locally for projects
