Job summary

St Matthew’s CE Primary School Bolton seeks a dedicated Site Manager to oversee the school premises, grounds and site. You will work with the Caretaker to ensure safe, efficient operation and a welcoming environment for staff, pupils and visitors.

The role requires hands-on DIY capabilities, adherence to health and safety, and the ability to operate with limited supervision within a busy school setting.

Qualifications

• Site management experience preferred, within education or similar environment.
• DIY skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, tiling and painting are advantageous.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation is required or highly desirable.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and initiative.
• Good sense of humour and teamwork are valued.

• Position: Site Manager
• Status: 35 hours per week 7.00am to 14.00pm
• Salary: Grade E point 11-17 £27,499 - £30,313 per annum
• Required from: November 1st 2026 or asap thereafter

The Governing Body of St Matthew’s Primary School Bolton are seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to the post of Site Manager, to work in their successful 2 form entry, multicultural school.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a dedicated, skilled and inspirational Site Manager who has the desire and drive to work at St Matthews C of E Primary School. The Governors are looking for someone who can work alongside our Caretaker and to play a vital role in the daily running of and maintaining of the school. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to make their mark. The purpose of the role is to be responsible for the flexible, efficient and effective running of the school premises, grounds and site.

The successful applicant will need to:

• Ensure high standards of compliance are maintained and that facilities are safe and fit for purpose
• Be a proactive self-starter, ensuring that the internal and external environment is conducive to the promotion of learning, and creates a great impression on all guests to our school
• Site Management experience preferably although not essentially within an educational setting
• Considerable DIY experience with skills in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry/joinery, tiling, painting to a competent level would be an advantage
• Have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and on own imitative
• Have a great sense of humour and enjoy working as a team player.
