Job summary

Elmtree Learning Partnership in Bristol is seeking a Site Lead for its Alternative Provision for secondary-aged learners. The role involves day-to-day leadership, safeguarding responsibilities, and working with SLT to ensure high-quality education and pastoral support.

The successful candidate will have experience in education leadership, safeguarding, EHCP processes, and a commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a higher-level education support role, pastoral leadership role, or similar leadership position within education.
• Experience as a Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Lead or a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a willingness to undertake further training.
• Experience of working with secondary-aged young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH needs, or those educated within alternative provision.
• Knowledge and experience of EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and multi-agency working.
• A strong understanding of behaviour support, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.
• Experience of supporting curriculum delivery and educational planning.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to remain calm, resilient and solution-focused in challenging situations.
• A commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the referral and induction process for new students.
• Coordinating and contributing to Annual Reviews and ongoing reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of individual learning plans and personalised targets.
• Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and supporting all safeguarding and child protection processes.
• Monitoring and maintaining site compliance, health and safety requirements, and statutory responsibilities.
• Leading and supporting the completion and review of student and site risk assessments.
• Supporting curriculum development to ensure provision meets the diverse needs of learners.
• Providing guidance, coaching and day-to-day support to staff.
• Monitoring student progress, attendance, behaviour and engagement, ensuring effective interventions are implemented.
• Building positive relationships with families, schools, local authorities and external agencies.
