Job summary

Elmtree Learning Partnership is seeking an exceptional Site Lead to join our Alternative Provision for secondary-aged learners. This role focuses on strategic and operational leadership, ensuring high-quality educational and pastoral support in a safe, nurturing environment.

Working with the SLT, you will oversee day-to-day operations, support curriculum development, act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, monitor EHCPs and student progress, and coach staff to deliver inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• Experience in a higher-level education support or pastoral leadership role.
• Experience as Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Lead or understanding safeguarding responsibilities.
• Experience with secondary-aged learners, SEND/SEMH in an alternative provision setting.
• Knowledge of EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and multi-agency collaboration.
• Understanding of behaviour support, inclusion and trauma-informed practice.
• Experience in supporting curriculum delivery and educational planning.

Responsibilities

Elmtree Learning Partnership is seeking an exceptional and dedicated Site Lead to join our growing Alternative Provision for secondary-aged learners. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

Working closely with the SLT you will play a key role in the strategic and operational leadership of the provision, ensuring students receive high-quality educational and pastoral support in a safe, nurturing, and aspirational environment.

About the Role

The Site Lead will support the effective day-to-day running of the provision and contribute to the development of high-quality educational experiences for all learners. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the referral and induction process for new students.
• Coordinating and contributing to Annual Reviews and ongoing reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of individual learning plans and personalised targets.
• Acting as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and supporting all safeguarding and child protection processes.
• Monitoring and maintaining site compliance, health and safety requirements, and statutory responsibilities.
• Leading and supporting the completion and review of student and site risk assessments.Supporting curriculum development to ensure provision meets the diverse needs of learners.
• Providing guidance, coaching and day-to-day support to staff.
• Monitoring student progress, attendance, behaviour and engagement, ensuring effective interventions are implemented.
• Building positive relationships with families, schools, local authorities and external agencies.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience in a higher-level education support role, pastoral leadership role, or similar leadership position within education.
• Experience as a Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Lead or a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a willingness to undertake further training.
• Experience of working with secondary-aged young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH needs, or those educated within alternative provision.
• Knowledge and experience of EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and multi-agency working.
• A strong understanding of behaviour support, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.
• Experience of supporting curriculum delivery and educational planning.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to remain calm, resilient and solution-focused in challenging situations.
