Job summary

Elmtree Learning Partnership seeks a dedicated Deputy Site Lead for our secondary-aged learners in an ambitious alternative provision setting. You will work with the Site Lead to ensure high-quality education and pastoral support in a safe, nurturing environment.

You will support referrals, EHCP reviews, and personalised learning plans, while upholding safeguarding duties as Deputy DDSL. A focus on inclusion and trauma-informed practice is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a higher-level education support role or pastoral leadership within education.
  • Experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) or strong safeguarding knowledge.
  • Experience with secondary-aged learners, including SEND/SEMH in alternative provision.
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and Annual Reviews; multi-agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Support referral and induction processes for new students.
  • Coordinate and contribute to EHCP reviews and annual reviews.
  • Develop and monitor individual learning plans and targets.
  • Lead safeguarding duties as Deputy DDSL and support safeguarding processes.
  • Ensure site health and safety compliance and risk assessments.
  • Support curriculum development to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Coach and support staff in daily duties.
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, behaviour and interventions.
  • Build relationships with families, schools and local authorities.
  • Provide cover for Site Lead when required.

Salary: £23,500 - £25,000 dependent on experience
Contract: Full Time, Permanent, term-time only

Elmtree Learning Partnership is seeking an exceptional and dedicated Deputy Site Lead to join our growing Alternative Provision for secondary-aged learners. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.

Working closely with the Site Lead, you will play a key role in the strategic and operational leadership of the provision, ensuring students receive high-quality educational and pastoral support in a safe, nurturing, and aspirational environment.

About the Role

The Deputy Site Lead will support the effective day-to-day running of the provision and contribute to the development of high-quality educational experiences for all learners. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the referral and induction process for new students.
  • Coordinating and contributing to Annual Reviews and ongoing reviews of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of individual learning plans and personalised targets.
  • Acting as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and supporting all safeguarding and child protection processes.
  • Monitoring and maintaining site compliance, health and safety requirements, and statutory responsibilities.
  • Leading and supporting the completion and review of student and site risk assessments.
  • Supporting curriculum development to ensure provision meets the diverse needs of learners.
  • Providing guidance, coaching and day-to-day support to staff.
  • Monitoring student progress, attendance, behaviour and engagement, ensuring effective interventions are implemented.
  • Building positive relationships with families, schools, local authorities and external agencies.
  • Deputising for the Site Lead when required.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Previous experience in a higher-level education support role, pastoral leadership role, or similar leadership position within education.
  • Experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) or a strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a willingness to undertake further training.
  • Experience of working with secondary-aged young people, particularly those with SEND, SEMH needs, or those educated within alternative provision.
  • Knowledge and experience of EHCP processes, Annual Reviews, and multi-agency working.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour support, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience of supporting curriculum delivery and educational planning.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm, resilient and solution-focused in challenging situations.
