Job summary

HS2 Ltd. in Birmingham seeks a Foreperson/Supervisor to join the Midlands delivery team.

You will supervise construction activities across assigned work areas, lead site operatives and subcontractors, and ensure tasks are completed safely and in line with drawings and method statements. You will read engineering drawings, maintain quality and safety standards, conduct toolbox talks, monitor progress, coordinate resources, and help resolve technical issues with site engineers and project teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as Foreperson or Supervisor in civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, highways, or construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental, and quality management practices.
• CSCS Card and SSSTS or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate construction activities within assigned work areas.
• Lead site operatives and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure all works are carried out in line with approved drawings, specifications, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety discussions.
• Monitor site progress and report performance against programme targets.
• Ensure the availability and effective utilisation of labour, plant, materials, and equipment.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure quality inspections are completed.
• Collaborate with Site Engineers, Surveyors, and project teams to resolve technical and operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with BBV, HS2, and statutory health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
• Identify and elevate risks, delays, and potential issues affecting project delivery.
• Maintain accurate records including site diaries, permits, inspections, and progress reports.
• Support investigations into incidents, close calls, and quality concerns, implementing corrective actions as required.
