Job summary

Time Recruitment is seeking an experienced Working Foreman / Site Supervisor for heritage restoration and conservation projects. You will manage day-to-day site operations, lead specialist trades, and ensure safe, high-quality delivery of historic buildings across the region.

Ideal candidates will have strong leadership, a background in restoration or conservation projects, and the ability to travel across Yorkshire and Manchester areas.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as Working Foreman or Site Supervisor in restoration or heritage projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising site operatives, specialist trades, and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring health, safety, and quality standards are maintained at all times.
  • Coordinating labour, plant, materials, and site resources.
  • Monitoring progress against programme targets and project milestones.
  • Conducting site inspections and quality checks.
  • Assisting with site records, reporting, and project documentation.
  • Supporting the management of project variations and additional works.
  • Liaising with clients, conservation officers, designers, and management teams.
  • Promoting excellent site standards and workmanship throughout each project.
  • Working alongside site teams when required and leading by example.

Location: Manchester, Yorkshire & North West (site-based with regional travel)

Salary: From £23.00 per hour (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Working Foreman / Site Supervisor to join our growing team, delivering high-quality restoration, conservation, and refurbishment projects across some of the region's most historic and architecturally significant buildings.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations while remaining actively involved in project delivery where required. You will lead by example, ensuring all works are completed safely, professionally, and in accordance with conservation best practices.

Projects can include:

  • Heritage and listed building restoration
  • Conservation and repair works
  • Structural alterations and stabilisation
  • Traditional masonry and stone repairs
  • Steelwork installations
  • Refurbishment and adaptive re-use projects
  • Demolition and enabling works
  • Church, civic, commercial, and historic property restoration

Key Responsibilities

About You

We are looking for an individual with a strong construction background and experience supervising projects within restoration, refurbishment, or specialist construction environments.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Working Foreman, Site Supervisor, General Foreman, or similar role
  • Proven experience within heritage restoration, refurbishment, structural alteration, conservation, or specialist construction projects
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors effectively
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification
  • First Aid qualification
  • PASMA qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel to projects across Yorkshire, Manchester, and the wider region

Desirable Experience

  • Heritage, listed building, or conservation project experience
  • Knowledge of traditional building materials and construction methods
  • Experience working on projects involving stonework, masonry repairs, timber restoration, lime mortars, or structural repairs
