Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support the HS2 Multi-Utilities programme in the Birmingham area. You will work with the Project Manager and team to deliver safe, on-time site construction from planning through to handover.

You will translate technical information into practical site actions, supervise crews, monitor progress, and ensure quality and safety standards are met while managing costs and contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Formal qualification in construction or engineering or equivalent experience
• CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent qualifications
• Experience implementing safe systems of work
• Experience managing risk and change processes
• Good understanding of standard forms of contract
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build relationships across teams and stakeholders
• Good organisational skills under pressure
• Proactive problem solving and continuous improvement
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365

Responsibilities

• Interpret technical information, drawings and translate into site delivery
• Set and supervise personnel on site
• Monitor progress against programme, cost, quality and safety
• Prepare and maintain project records and daily diaries
• Review RAMS and safety documentation
• Identify and report site risks and issues
• Support safety and environmental inspections and improvements
• Manage subcontractors and supply chain coordination
• Coordinate plant, materials and resources to meet deadlines
• Monitor quality targets and KPIs and implement improvements
• Support short-term planning and project controls
• Liaise with Project Engineers, Construction Managers, customers and subcontractors
• Maintain awareness of budgets and commercial impact of changes
