Job summary

Fusion People Ltd is seeking a Site Engineer (Geologist / Ground Investigations) based in the North East, with responsibilities on geotechnical sites in Durham and surrounding areas.

You will supervise small to mid-sized ground investigation projects, logging soil and rock samples, carrying out field tests and surveys, and ensuring technical, commercial, and HSEQ compliance on site. A degree in Geology or Earth Sciences and 6–12 months’ site experience are required.

• 6–12 months site investigation contracting experience.
• Contractor background with hands-on field experience.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage teams on small to medium geotechnical ground investigation projects on site.
• Ensure compliance in technical, commercial, and HSEQ aspects.
• Log rock and soil samples (boring and trial pits) and conduct field testing and surveying.

Requirements

• The successful candidate must be qualified to degree level in a related field (such as Geology or Earth Sciences) and a minimum of 6-12 months site investigation contracting experience.
• The client is seeking an individual with a contractor background, including hands-on field experience.
• You must also hold strong communication and organisational skills, be proficient with MS office and have a full UK driving license, as the role will require travel to various sites.

Responsibilities

• A Site Engineer is required to join a Ground Investigation contractor on a permanent basis in Durham.
• You will be supervising and managing teams on small to medium sized geotechnical ground investigation projects on site, ensuring compliance in a technical, commercial, and HSEQ sense.
• You will also be responsible for logging rock and soil samples (such as boreholes and trial pits) and carrying out field testing and surveying, among other requirements.
