Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Site Engineer based in Warrington to deliver civil infrastructure projects across the North West, working with site teams and stakeholders to ensure safety, quality and timeliness.

Role involves setting out, progressing works, technical compliance and collaboration with clients and subcontractors. You will support junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement in a dynamic, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer or similar in civil engineering or infrastructure.
• Strong technical engineering knowledge applied to project delivery.
• Experience on highways, structures, drainage or earthworks.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field; ONC/HNC or membership desirable.
• Valid CSCS Card and knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Ability to identify technical issues and escalate risks to senior management.
• Experience delivering engineering activities from planning through handover.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with clients and teams.
• Ability to review drawings, specs, and construction information for quality.
• Proactive, customer-focused, adaptable to fast-paced projects.
• Knowledge of BIM and ability to interpret BIM models is advantageous.
• Commitment to engineering excellence, sustainability, collaboration and Zero Harm culture.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Project Team in delivering engineering strategy and requirements.
• Set out works and ensure construction activities meet design specs and standards.
• Provide technical support to site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Manage materials, plant and labour resources for safe, efficient delivery.
• Ensure design information and quality requirements are communicated on site.
• Assist with project planning, progress monitoring and weekly/monthly reports.
• Support quality assurance with inspections and audits.
• Build relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure engineering solutions are fit for purpose considering site constraints.
• Support procurement and material control activities and cost management.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and digital solutions.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and site teams.
• Contribute feedback on productivity and project outcomes for improvement.
• Maintain Zero Harm culture across project delivery.
• Support sustainability objectives and company values.
