Job summary

Amey is seeking a Site Engineer (structures) to join our SBIM team on iconic UK bridge networks. You will provide on-site engineering support for maintenance, renewals and improvements across major structures, coordinating with subs and operations to keep work on programme and within quality standards.

You will review drawings, specs and QA records, lead inspections and measurements, and help implement RAMS and permits.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
• CSCS Card or equivalent.
• Experience in civil engineering, highways, structures or bridge maintenance environments.
• Experience coordinating site delivery and subcontractors.
• Experience carrying out inspections, measurements, defect identification and record management.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong planning, organisation and communication skills.
• Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and digital site record systems.
• Understanding of site engineering processes, inspections and quality assurance activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide site engineering support for bridge and structures maintenance, renewal and improvement works.
• Support the Section Engineer in the delivery of allocated work packages.
• Undertake engineering checks, measurements, surveys, defect verification and evidence capture.
• Coordinate day-to-day site activities with supervisors, operatives and subcontractors.
• Support RAMS, permits, site briefings and control measures.
• Carry out quality assurance activities including inspections, material verification and snagging.
• Maintain accurate site records including diaries, photographs and test results.
• Assist in coordinating traffic management interfaces, temporary works and access requirements.
• Monitor site progress and report productivity, constraints, risks and completed works.
• Promote a safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement across the contract.
• Support the delivery team to meet specification, programme and quality requirements.
