Job summary

Amey is seeking a Site Engineer to join the Specialist Bridge Inspection & Maintenance (SBIM) team on UK bridge assets. You will support maintenance, renewal and improvement works across iconic structures such as M48 Severn Bridge, M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and M5 Avonmouth Bridge.

You will coordinate with operational teams, subcontractors and National Highways, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to required standards.

Qualifications

• HNC/OND/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• CSCS Card or equivalent.
• Experience in civil engineering, highways, structures or bridge maintenance.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and supporting site delivery.
• Experience inspections, measurements, defect identification and record management.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and technical docs.
• Strong planning and communication skills.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
• Experience in live traffic environments and temporary works awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide site engineering support for bridge and structures maintenance and renewal.
• Support the Section Engineer in delivering work packages.
• Carry out inspections, surveys and evidence capture.
• Coordinate daily site activities with supervisors, operatives and subcontractors.
• Assist RAMS, permits, site briefings and control measures.
• Conduct quality assurance incl. inspections and handover docs.
• Maintain site records including diaries, photos and test results.
• Coordinate traffic management interfaces and access requirements.
• Monitor progress and report productivity, risks and completed works.
• Promote safety culture and contribute to continuous improvements.
