Job summary

Randstad CPE is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support an Early Contractor Involvement and detailed design stage for a major regional infrastructure scheme in Norfolk.

The role involves setting out (GPS), temporary works coordination, on-site supervision, and safety management on highways projects, with flexibility for night shifts and a daily rate of GBP350–GBP450. Immediate start available for a long-term contract.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Site Engineer on UK highways or major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with GPS set out, GI/topo surveys, and site supervision.
• Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS/SMSTS, and First Aid at Work.

Responsibilities

• Site Surveying and Setting Out: Set out and survey points using GPS; manage GI, pavement, and drainage packages.
• Front Line Supervision: Oversee on-site works and subcontractors, coordinate with commercial/QS teams.
• Safety and Permits: Manage permits, conduct equipment checks, and lead site safety.
• Quality and Records: Enforce ITPs, document diaries, variations, RAMS via apps.
• Landowner/Traffic Interface: Conduct pre/post-work surveys and oversee traffic management.

Site Engineer (Highways and Infrastructure)

Location: Norfolk

Contract Rate: GBP350 : GBP450 per day (LTD / Outside IR35)

Engagement Type: Long:Term Contract

Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to provide support during the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and detailed design stage for a major regional infrastructure scheme in Norfolk.

The project scope includes 2.5km of new single carriageway, active travel routes, roundabouts, new bridge structures, major drainage, utility diversions, and 800m of dual carriageway/interchange modifications. You will report directly to the Agent and manage on:site survey works, ground investigations, and site clearance activities safely, efficiently, and right first time.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Surveying and Setting Out: Set out and survey points/locations using GPS. Manage site survey packages including topography, Ground Investigation (GI), pavement, and drainage.
• Front:Line Supervision: Supervise on:site works, front:line teams, and sub:contractor activities. Manage sub:contractor accounts alongside the commercial/QS team.
• Safety and Permits: Issue and manage Permits to Dig, execute pre:construction equipment checks, and lead site safety. Must be proficient in operating RD4000 or RD8000 CAT and Genny.
• Quality and Record Keeping: Enforce Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), track non:conformances, and maintain accurate daily site diaries, variations, and RAMS reviews via app:based management tools.
• Landowner and Traffic Interface: Carry out pre: and post:work surveys in accordance with landowner requirements. Oversee traffic management (including occasional night shifts for carriageway works).

Requirements And Qualifications

• Experience: Proven track record as a Site Engineer on UK civil engineering, highways, or major infrastructure projects.
• Technical Skills: Expert in setting out (GPS), service location (CAT and Genny), GI/topo surveys, and sub:contractor supervision.
• Certifications: Valid CSCS Card, SSSTS/SMSTS, and First Aid at Work.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work night shifts when required for carriageway traffic management.
